Education

From the time our city was formed, education has played a major role in our community. We’re proud of our award-winning public and private schools.

The Worthington School District is regarded as one of the best systems in the state and in the top 15 percent of all districts nationwide. The district offers diverse academic and co-curricular programs. Students perform well on national achievement tests, state-required proficiency tests and college entrance exams. About 90 percent of graduates plan to attend postsecondary options.

Worthington is the only district in Franklin County and the largest in the state to meet every standard on the state report card for six years in a row. For the 14th consecutive year, the district has won the “What Parents Want Award” from SchoolMatch, an independent, nationwide service that helps corporate employee families find schools that match the needs of their children. This places the district in the top 15 percent of all districts nationwide.

Getting Your Child Registered

Registering or transferring your child to a school in Worthington is easy. While you’ll need to check with your new school for specific procedures, most schools require:

  • Birth certificate;
  • Immunization record; and
  • Proof of residency.

It would be helpful but not necessary
to have a copy of your child’s latest
report card. Most schools handle the
transfer of school records.

The district’s schools, students, faculty, athletic teams, fine arts and performing arts groups have won many state and national honors, including the National Blue Ribbon School Award for Excellence. Worthington’s two high schools, Thomas Worthington and Worthington Kilbourne, have been ranked in the top five among all central Ohio high schools by Columbus Monthly in its rating of public high school programs, the only school system to have two schools in the top five.
